Kitchen Game Changers
Does anyone else watch the block and always hear the words "GAME CHANGER"!!!! In all seriousness, though, have you ever asked yourself what is your game-changing move when renovating your home?
What could you do or change that will help improve your home and increase the value?
In the renovation below, we made our "game-changing" move to relocate the laundry, knock down the dividing wall, and created a larger kitchen space. We not only opened the area right up, but we gained a dining space at the end, which this property did not have.
Small Kitchen? Do you only have space for a skinny pantry?
Have you thought about splitting your pantry by adding draws at the bottom and a cupboard on top? I love to do this in small kitchens because I find it so frustrating losing items at the bottom of the pantry!
Sometimes you even forget the item is there and then go out and repurchase it.
By adding draws at the bottom, you can pull them all the way out, meaning you never lose that item hiding at the back!
Tight Budget?
Keep the plumbing and services in the exact location, and if the appliances are in good working order, they aren't outdated, KEEP them.
If you have a concrete slab to work with or block walls, it can cost a lot of money to cut into the slab to change your plumbing and electrical services. The only time I would consider moving plumbing and services would be if this was my forever or long term home, and I'm not willing to compromise on the layout for comfort and flow.
In the renovation below, we kept the same layout and same appliances. The only change was the kitchen sink and tap. This saved us BIG which meant we could spend more on the beautiful stone benchtops.
